1. Trim and file nails: Use nail clippers or a nail file to shape your nails. If you prefer a square shape, file the nails straight across and then round the corners slightly. If you prefer a rounded shape, file the nails in a rounded shape.

2. Soak nails: Fill a bowl with warm water and soak your nails for a few minutes. This will help soften your cuticles and make them easier to push back.

3. Push back cuticles: Use a cuticle pusher or orange stick to gently push back your cuticles.

4. Trim cuticles: Use cuticle scissors to trim any excess skin that's sticking up.

5. Exfoliate: Use a gentle exfoliating scrub to remove any dead skin from your hands and nails.

6. Moisturize: Apply hand cream or lotion to your hands and nails to keep them hydrated.

7. Apply base coat: Apply a clear base coat to your nails to protect them from staining and help your nail polish last longer.

8. Apply nail polish: Apply your chosen nail polish color, using thin, even strokes. Allow the first coat to dry completely before applying a second coat.
